Hello Class!!
So, this is our first blog entry. Read the following article.

How is the drawing exercise similar to blind contour or semi-blind contour drawing?
Why is this type of drawing exercise good for you? What do you think it helps you to develop? (For example, doing squats helps you to develop strong leg muscles, practicing your scales before you play a piece of music helps your fingers to play in the correct key.)

Please be specific, write in paragraph form, not in question and answer form.

  1. This drawing is similar to blind or semi-blind contour because there are no lift of pencil marks in this drawing. But for this it can be a semi-blind contour because it is too well drawn for just a blind contour. I think this type of drawing exercise helps you get a better knowledge of sights and feeling. It can also help you draw complicated arts.

  2. This exercise is similar to blind contour or semi-blind contour drawing because you try to not look at the paper. This exercise is good for focusing, and I also think this exercise improves your observing skills, so you can draw with more details.

  3. The drawing exercise is similar to semi blind contour drawings, because you have to draw every single detail and to do that, you need to take a good look at the object. Also, your hand needs to be in just the right speed to draw the details. This exercise is good for me because it helps you to be aware of all the little details of the object. It also helps you control your speed when you draw blind or semi blind contour drawings. I think thie drawing exercise also helps you have patience, because it tells you to control your speed and go SLOWLY.

  4. Fast drawing is similar to Blind contour or semi-blind contour drawings because the drawing is not perfect. For Blind or semi-blind contour drawings you barley or hardly look at the picture but you can take as much time as you need. For Fast drawing you can look at your picture as much as you want but you have a time limite. I think this type of drawing exercise is good for you because it lets you quickly look at your object and draw what you remember. I think if you keep doing this exercise your drawing eye will become fast.

  5. This drawing exercise is similar to blind or the semi-blind contour, because it does not look like an exact hand. When doing the blind or the semi-blind contour, I doesn't actually come out as you think it would be. This type of drawing exercise is good for you, because it is like an eye practice. This kind of drawing makes you concentrate harder on the object which you are drawing and you also get to concentrate on your hand motions (concentrate if your hand is drawing what your eyes are looking at).

  6. The drawing exercise us similar to blind contour semi-blind contour by focusing on the object that we are drawing. This kind of exercise is good for me because then we can focus on the object and draw. This help us to develop drawing at the same speed and to focus on the object that we are drawing.

  8. This exercise is similar to blind contour or semi-blind contour because it is about looking at the object with a lot of concentration, and that it is more important that you really try to get everything in there than how the drawing looks. I think this exercise is good for you because it kind of trains you to look at a object closing instead of just drawing what you think the object looks like.

  9. This drawing isn't perfect and doesn't have perfect lines connected perfectly. It warms up your hand just like how we warm up our selves so in art your hands get all warmed up and you'll have a better feeling of art.

  10. You are supposed to look at the object and draw at the same speed as you observe the object. Blind contour and semi-blind contour also has you draw at the same speed while looking.(Because you can't look at your drawing, you have no choice but to draw with what you see.) This drawing exercise is useful because it helps you search out details in the object and keeps you from rushing on drawing it without even peering over at some parts of the object. I think it helps develop patience. The person would speed up and draw something they didn't even see.

  12. The drawing exercise is similar to blind contour or semi-blind contour drawing, because you need to examine the object closely to look at all the details. Also, instead of imaging how something looks like, you need to look at the object more than looking at your paper. This type of drawing is good for you because it helps you notice a lot of detail of an object. Also, this helps you develop your drawing skills.

  13. It is similar with blind contour because you don't really look at your drawing while looking at the sculpture. I think that it is very good for you because you can see the sculpture and in a short time you can draw the details too. It can also make your eyesight better and later on you will see much more details in other pictures too.

  15. The drawing exercise is similar to blind contour/semi because you dont look at the sculpture, or the object that much. This exercise is good because it improves you on looking at art work and drawing it on the paper at the same time matching the pace. This just makes you better at drawling the shapes accurately and drawling it accurately. Also when you are doing a big art project and before painting, it gives you a very good sketch to start off.

  17. This drawing is similar to blind contour drawing because your eyes are only looking at the object, not the paper you are drawing on. 18. This drawing exercise is simlar to blind contour and semi-blind contour drawing because it does not look neat and organized. Some lines don't connect with each other and some lines are out of place. Also, when drawing blind or semi-blind contour, you can not take the pencil off the paper and this drawing has lines that don't end. The drawing seems like the person drew while not seeing what he/she actually drew. In addition, this type of drawing is can build on many skills. It is very helpful to getting our eyes trained, getting focused and concentrated. We can develop and improve our looking and drawing skills.

  19. This excercise is similar to blind and semi-blind countour because you are trying to draw without looking at your picture. I think that this excercise will be good for me because with this excercise, I can practice and improve syncronizing my eye movements with my drawing speed, which will be beneficial on later arts.

  20. This is simliar to semi and blind contour because the drawing does not look good and it is not perfect.
This is a good exercise for a person to really look at the details of the object and not at what you are looking at. This is good because it show the person who is looking at the art all the small and little details. It can also make your eye sight better.

  21. The exersize and blind contour and semi blind contour are similar, because you don't look at what you're drawing. It also isn't neat. You just focus at the object that you are drawing. This drawing exersize is good for you, because it helps you focus on the details of your object. It helps you develop how well you focus and concentrate on something.

  23. I think that this drawing is blind contour drawing as the eye is only looking at the sculpture but the lines aren't joined together so that means that it cannot be a blind contour drawing so it must be a semi-blind. This kind of drawing helps you find all the details and put them down on paper.

  24. This is a good exercise becuase it teaches us that we do not have to rush our drawings. It also teaches us that when we draw we should move our pencil at the same speed that we roll our eyes over the object. This is a good exercise for when you would just like to draw somehting.

  25. The drawing is similar to blind and semi-blind contour drawing because you don't look at what you are drawing, you only concentrate on the object you're drawing with your eyes. You can also see that there are no sign of the pencil being lifted up, so it is similar. This type of exercise is good for you because it makes you learn how to concentrate on the object you are drawing and see all the detail on it. If you look at the picture and the drawing, the drawing is not as good at the picture, but it has most of the detail that is not the picture.

  26. This drawing is similar to Semi Blind contour drawing and Blind contour drawing because it looks like the paper being drawn on wasn't looked at very often, and it is not the best we can do like if we looked at the drawing alot. I think this exercise is good, it helps us to get every detail of the object you are drawing then you can draw it later on knowing how it looks like taking few glances for little details. It helps you later on when you get used to it then your drawings may not turn out so bad!

  27. I think the drawing represents semi blind contour drawing because the drawing looks like it was done by some one who looks like he wasn't looking at the drawing. I think these drawings are good for us because it makes us pay more attention to the object. And when you can look at the drawing it will make you draw better.

  28. This drawing exercise is similar to blind and semi contour drawing because you have to have the same speed for both your hands and your eyes. Blind contour drawing is known for looking at every details of the object, not how long it will take. This exercise will help you learn that taking your time will help you focus on the very little details of your object. It will help you develop a skill of being focused and not to rush while drawing.

  29. This drawing is simiar to semi or blind countour because it doesn't necessarily look very neat. The lines aren't all connected, The lines are also somewhat wrinkled. Because of that, the feeling that you get after looking at this drawing is very warm.

  30. I'll start straight off with a true fact in bind and semi-blind contour drawings. One obvious reason that the drawing above is a drawing of a blind/semi-blind contour would be because the whole drawing is constructed of one line. The single extended line creates the whole contour, showing the characteristic of a blind/semi-blind contour. Personally, I would assume the contour above as a semi-blind contour, due to the fact that the drawing is just "too good". Perhaps one of Van Gogh's students might've drawn that with a blind contour, but for normal artists, I would predict they used the semi-blind contour exercise.

I deliberated about the question where it asks why these blind/semi-blind contour drawings are important for your drawing skills. Just like any activity needs a thick base of practice, art would be exactly the same. These exercises that include just looking at the still life model would give a terrific warm-up for us to become better. Just looking at the model would let you to really focus on the specific details and wrinkles. Despite the fact that the drawing would be like trashed paper, the more you practice, the better you get in real contours.

  31. I think this exercise is good for students of all art skills because, everyone has to look only at the object and you can see who is good at observing.
You also have to take your time for the Blind Contrast. Even if you are a good artist, they have only drawn by looking at the paper. However in the Blind Contrast drawing, everyone has a chance because it requires memory and patience.

The Semi Blind contrast is a bit easier for me and I think everyone else. It is because most people are used to drawing by looking at their paper.
However, you have to be careful not to look to much at your paper, so it still requires patience and good observation.
Overall, both of these exercises are good because it kind of levels everyone down to the same level. (Not much people to blind or semi blind contrasts at their house)

  32. I think this is similar to blind contour drawing and semi-blind contour drawing because you still do not look at the paper while drawing and only look at the object. I think this exercise is good for us because it helps us find our pace of drawing while looking at the object and I think it helps us by helping our eyes and hands get coordinated well while drawing blindly.

  33. The drawing is similar to a blind/semi-blind contour drawing because you both really have to concentrate on the thing or object you are drawing. They both teach you how to concentrate, how to observe, and how to control your hands as you draw art. These exercises improves and develops you drawing skills and looking skills. It helps you focus on one thing and how it is formed and shaped. It also tells you speed isn't how fast you draw but the time you move your hands on the paper to draw what you focused on drawing.

  34. The drawing is similar to blind and semi-blind drawings because the drawing is constructed with only one line. It also shows many little details in their hands such as the wrinkles. It think these exercises help your brain and your and to connect and practice drawing what you are seeing very clearly. By drawing an object by just not looking at the paper, it would be very hard since you have to draw thinking about where the pencil is on the paper. But this exercise will help us get better on drawing objects.

  35. The drawing exercise is similar to the blind and semi-blind contour because the drawing is consists of one line and looks messy, I think it's because after doing this kind of exercise you can observe the object better when you draw something.

  36. The drawing shows either blind or semi-blind contour drawing, because the drawing is made of one line. And it doesn't look like a perfect hand, though the artist could have done semi-blind contour, because the drawing looks too neat to me a blind contour drawing.

These types of drawing helps the artists to improve the drawing skills. By doing these exercises, the artists learn how to look at specific details and get used to draw by just looking at the object. In order to have a "good" drawing, the artists must draw what they see. And these types of exercises (blind or semi-blind contour drawing) are the ones to improve them. Doing blind or semi-blind contour drawing helps me to look at the object more carefully, and learn how to draw, following my eyes.

  37. This excercise is similar to our blind or semi-blind contour drawings because you can tell that the person who has drawn this drawing barely, or even never looked at the paper, and probably only looked at the hand. It also looks like he nver took his pencil of the piece of paper.
I think this type of exercise is good for me, because after I practice doing these exercises I could get better at drawing with looking at the object, and the paper.

  38. This drawing is similar to blind contour or semi-blind contour drawing because this drawing is not perfect and the lines are not connected. Some fingers overlapped the other finger. Also, this drawing did not include details. This type of drawing exercise is good for me because this exercise help the students to focus on the drawing, and help to improve drawing and looking skills. I think this drawing exercise helps to develop because this you can improve the looking skills. Also, you can draw the pictures or the drawings without looking at the paper, if you keep practicing this skills.

  39. This exercise is similar to blind contour drawing or semi blind contour drawing because you can't look at the picture while you are drawing it. Blind contour drawing is where you can't look at the drawing at all but semi blind contour drawing is where you can take glimpses.

This drawing is good for you because it helps you focus on what you are really drawing on. To concentrate on the drawing is very important, so it helps you on concentrating and observing the picture in the box. What I mean by that is sometimes, when you are drawing, you have to have to have a limit of the amount of space you are drawing. So, this exercise helps you observe, too. Also, it helps you have patience.

I think what makes you develop is to control the anger that you had with your drawing or patience. This exercise could be a stress reliever and help you draw patiently.

  40. The similar things about these two methods are that in semi contour drawing, the painter can NOT take a look at their drawing until it is finished. In this slow drawing exercise, you also have to look at the object very carefully. These types of exercises are good for us, because they connect our eyes with our hands.I think it helps me develop skills with connecting two parts of our body, and looking carefully.

This drawing is similar to blind/ semiblind contour drawing, as the painter cannot look at the painting. Also, this is a drawing exercise, just like a blind contour drawing. It allows you to develop certain artistic skills. Just like the blind/semi blind contour drawing one has to look slowly, and paint exactly what one is looking at.
However, unlike blind/ semi blind drawings, this doesn't require the painter to go over every detail of the painting.

This leads us on to the next question. This type of drawing is extremely good for our artistic dexterity and eye. By concentrating on drawing the actual line that you are drawing (as, 'all shapes are made from lines'), you don't draw an imaginary, perfect symbol of the object that you are drawing. For example, every single hand in the world is different. However, everywhere you go, the symbol for a hand is roughly the same. as an artist blossoming (hopefully), we are seeking unique interpretations of everything that we draw. This is the difference between just a good painter, and a real, thinking, artist.

  42. Blind contour drawing and semi-blind contour are similar because blind contour drawing is not looking at your paper at all, but semi-blind is when you only look at your paper for two seconds each time. Also, when you draw using these skills you can't pick up your pencil.
I think this kind of drawing is good for me beccause it lets my hand and my eyes work together. I think this type of drawing helps me develop skills for looking at an object and drawing.

  43. This drawing is similar to blind and semi bling contour drawing as the person who is drawing can not see the paper and this drawing is a very good exercise because it helps you concentrate more and it teaches you not to rush your art work and draw every single detail in the painting you are looking at :)

This drawing is similar to blind and semi blind contrast because it doesn't look perfect and you can see that the person who drew this took time. You can see the wrinkles and detail of the shirt and hand.

This helps you observe more closely and draw with more detail. You also need to concentrate alot.

  47. What do you think it helps you to develop?

The drawing exercise was very similar to the blind/semi-blind contour in many ways. First of all, when you're doing the exercises(all of them), you have to look at the object very closely, trying to get all its details. Plus, once you start drawing, you'll have to trust your eyes, and move your hand with the eyes(what your eyes are seeing). These exercises should take a long time too. To add on, the main, important point of these exercises is not drawing well, it's about looking at an object as a one continuous action(or line), not drawing a picture that's in our mind.

These kind of exercises are excellent warm ups for me. The reason is, usually when I draw, for example my hand, I try to imagine how a real hand looks like(inside my head) and even though I'm looking at my hands while drawing, what comes out on my paper is a drawing, which rather looks more like a cartoon. However, when I do these exercises before I work on my still lifes, I can get rid of that habit of drawing. with more details. I think these exercises helped me to develop a skill to draw a more realistic drawings, since I can really connect my eyes with my hand.
